Let me just start by saying that I am a coffee addict. I love coffee. I especially love good coffee. In my opinion , Stumptown coffee is the BUSINESS. There is nothing better . If you have not tried it then I urge you to stop what you are doing and go get some. Order it online if you must. I'm not a hater of Starbucks, but let us be honest....Starbucks is the McDonald's of coffee. But in a pinch, a really big Starbucks iced coffee (I refuse to use the description venti or grande..gross) with no sugar will do.
Well I was in a pinch this morning. I like to pretend that I'm not addicted to caffeine but when I haven't had my coffee, I feel it. My head was pounding out of my skull and Starbucks was the closest remedy to said poundage. So I get in line at the drive through. Only one car ahead of me. Not bad. I'm usually waiting for what seems like hours. But today, all was good in the long line department. I ordered my really big iced coffee no sugar with a bit of cream and scrape together the change from the bottom of my purse. What can I say? Times are tough . When I get to the window, the saccharin sweet blond hands me my coffee with a smile and tells me that the woman ahead of me payed for my coffee.
"what? Me? Why" No reason. She just said she wanted to pick up my coffee. You have got to be kidding me. Who does that? I instantly started to tear up. This woman doesn't know that I have a splitting headache . She doesn't know whether I'm rich or poor. (the latter, in case your wondering) She just wanted to be kind.
I love this woman. Just when I thought the world was void of any heart whatsoever, this random stranger reminds me to have faith.
My mother always said... "you get what you give" I have tried to remember that quote and live by it. Even now, I want to cry. I know, it's only a $3.00 coffee. But it wasn't about that. She didn't have to buy my coffee. But she did anyway. And she made my day. It was by far the best coffee I have ever had.
A little random act of kindness goes a long way. I can't wait to pay it forward. I hope that woman had a blessed day.
And to anyone who reads this. I hope you have a blessed day as well. Now lets all go out there and buy a stranger a coffee ! xoxo
